The Richard Gwyn Museum

The Richard Gwyn Museum is housed in a chapel / one-room schoolhouse built by the Gwyn family in 1850. Originally built so the family did not have to attend church or school across the Yadkin River in Jonesville, it is the oldest structure of its kind in Surry County.

Today the building serves as a meeting place for the Daughters of the American Revolution and a museum of Elkin's history. Artifacts include: clothing, dental instruments and ledger books dating from the 1800s.

Mt. Airy Museum of Regional History - Mount Airy, NCFor many years there has been a fascination with the history and tradition of this back country region at the foot of the Blue Ridge Mountains. So the development of a museum to collect, preserve, and interpret the natural, historic and artistic heritage of this region was inevitable. Your visit will be a memorable occasion.
