Recently, the hospital completed a comprehensive renovation and addition of state-of-the-art surgical, imaging and radiation oncology technology. Construction has begun on a new Emergency Department and ICU.

Regional Cancer Center

The Regional Cancer Center at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital now offers patients improved chances for cure with fewer side effects. This state-of-the-art approach, called Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy, or IMRT, uses computer-generated radiation dose calculations. The radiation bean intensity if varied, or modulated, to allow very precise dose delivery. The clinical use of IMRT shows great promise for prostate cancer, head and neck cancers, and lung cancer.
